Enhanced Eyewear

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas offers extra services called Value-Added Services (VAS) to our Medicaid and CHIP plan members. The VAS below is designed with your vision health in mind.

Get Upgraded

Members can get one upgrade to eyewear per year such as:

• one pair of stylish frames (upgraded from basic frames), 
• upgraded eyeglass or contact lenses, 
• or an extra pair of glasses.

The applies for CHIP, STAR and STAR Kids members ages 18 and under.

Limitations: Children must complete an eye exam before using this VAS. The value of the upgrade cannot be over $150. The VAS must be fulfilled by a Davis Vision® provider.

Vision care benefits are administered by Davis Vision. Some vision care requires an okay from BCBSTX before we will cover it. Be sure to use an in-network provider. Also ask your vision provider to confirm what needs to be approved before you get care or get eyewear.
