Your plan includes resources to support your mental health. These can help those who deal with mental health conditions, substance abuse or a behavioral health crisis.

When You Need Help

Behavioral health can affect overall health. Sometimes you may need help dealing with stress, grief, or depression. The type of help you might need depends on your personal situation. It could be counseling, treatment, in-patient or out-patient care. If you have questions about services available to you, call the Customer Advocate Department.

Mental Health Hotlines

If you are having a mental health crisis, there is help. Call one of the hotlines below. They are available 24/7. Calls are private and at no cost to you. Note: If you have a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

Behavioral Health and Substance Use Crisis Line

We offer emergency and crisis support. If, at any time, you think you or your child is having a mental health emergency, call us. Call any time of day or night, 24/7. You will be able to talk to a mental health professional.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline 

Call this hotline for support if you are in distress and need help during a crisis. You can speak with a trained crisis worker to get one-on-one support.

National Maternal Mental Health Hotline

Get support before, during and after pregnancy. This hotline is for those who feel overwhelmed or depressed. A trained counselor will listen and help.

ONLINE HELP

Learn to Live: Digital Mental Health Platform 

Learn to Live is a no cost online health program. Members ages 13 through 64 can call their Service Coordinator to learn how to log in to our online tools that cover a variety of behavioral health topics. Learn to Live gives self-paced mental health solutions. Plus, you can access coaches 24/7. It can help with common challenges like stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia and substance abuse. To start, register at the Learn to Live website (Access Code: TXMED).

Limitations: Members are in control as to how often they access and use the tools available. Members must have login information to use this service as provided by Case Management.

Behavioral Health Incentive

Earn a Gift Card When You Follow Up With Your Provider

Your plan covers more than just standard Texas Medicaid benefits. We also offer extra services to help keep you and your family healthy. These are called value-added services (VAS).

The Behavioral Health VAS Incentive rewards you for taking care of your health. Members who follow up with their provider after a hospital stay for behavioral health care may be eligible to get a $50 gift card. There are limitations. To receive the gift card, members must:

  • Attend a follow-up visit with a behavioral health provider within 7 days after they are discharged from the hospital for mental illness or intentional self-harm diagnoses.
  • Be an active member in the CHIP plan at the time of the checkup/visit with their provider.

Once you complete the follow-up visit, go to bcbstx.com/wellnessrewards and register to claim your gift card reward.

If you have questions about your plan, we can help. To ask about what the plan covers, find a provider, change your PCP and more, just call the Customer Advocate Department. We are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.

If you call after hours, please leave a message. We’ll call you back on the next business day. Members with hearing or speech loss can call the TTY/TDD line at 711.
