How to Enroll in STAR Kids

Who is This Plan For?

To qualify for STAR Kids, your child should meet these requirements:

1. Be a child or youth through age 20 who qualifies for disability-related Medicaid.
2. Must live in the Central and Travis Service Areas to enroll in the plan.
3. Must receive at least one of these:
   • Social Security Income (SSI)/SSI-related Medicaid
     -OR-
   • Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver program services, including:
     • Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP)
     • Deaf Blind with Multiple Disabilities (DBMD)
     • Home and Community-based Services (HCS)
     • Texas Home Living (TxHmL)
     • Community Living Assistance and Supports Services (CLASS)
     • Youth Empowerment Services (YES)

     Your child may meet both of these requirements.

How Do I Join?

Joining is easy. There are two ways for you to join Texas Medicaid. Call or go online.

Enrollment Events

There will be enrollment events around the state where you can get in-person help signing up for a health plan. Check the Texas Medicaid Events website for updates on when enrollment events will be held in your area.
