New Pharmacy Services Program, Pharmacy Match, Coming in 2026

Living with a complex, long-term or rare health condition can be challenging. The medications needed to treat these conditions often have special handling or storage needs and may only be filled at select pharmacies. It is also vital for patients to closely follow the drug care plan from their health care provider or pharmacist.

What is the solution? Pharmacy Match both expands the pharmacy network available to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas members, and uses a dynamic, real-time referral process to match members with the best-fit pharmacy for filling their specialty or complex care prescriptions within hours. This saves members time and potential costs.

The program also aims to make members’ health care journey easier with an interactive and simplified experience. When members are adherent to their drug treatment, it can lead to better health outcomes.

Availability: The Pharmacy Match program will be applied to our fully insured plans on April 1, 2026. Prior to the effective date, members may receive notification of their matched pharmacy. Members will have access to our BCBSTX customer service teams for ongoing support.

Advocate+ Pharmacy Match is available Jan. 1, 2026, for self-funded groups* with Prime Therapeutics® as the pharmacy benefit manager. For groups that select this program, a dedicated team of care specialists will provide proactive and ongoing member outreach and support for specialty and complex care prescriptions. The Advocate+ Pharmacy Match care specialist will serve as a single point of contract to connect members to the best-fit pharmacy, assist with prior authorizations, find resources to help pay for prescriptions, and answer any questions members may have about the process and/or their medication.
