BCBSTX and Memorial Hermann Negotiating New Contracts

Jan. 28, 2026

Applies to All Groups, Individual & Family Markets

Our contracts with Houston-based Memorial Hermann expire on April 1, 2026. We’re working closely with Memorial Hermann leadership and hope to sign new contracts before that date. Our goal is to reach agreements that protect our members’ and customers’ access to quality care at affordable rates.

If we can’t reach an agreement, Memorial Hermann hospitals, facilities, doctors and health care professionals will no longer be in these networks as of April 1:

  • Blue Choice PPOSM
  • Blue EssentialsSM
  • Blue Advantage HMOSM
  • Blue PremierSM
  • BlueHPN®

Memorial Hermann left our Medicare Advantage networks on Jan. 1, 2026.

Member notices: Commercial member notices will mail at least 30 days before the term date.

Impacted hospitals and other facilities: Visit bcbstx.com/memorialhermann  for a list.

Why negotiate: As a customer-owned health insurance industry leader in Texas for 95 years, we advocate on our members’ behalf for high-quality, cost-effective health care. It is a responsibility we take seriously.

Finding in-network care: If we don’t reach an agreement, members will still have access to in-network doctors and hospitals. We’re here to help members find quality, cost-effective in-network care. Members can check for options by:

  • Visiting Find Care on bcbstx.com or their provider directory
  • Logging in to their member account online or using the BCBSTX App
  • Calling the number on their member ID card

Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as a continuity-of-care patient. This means they may still be able to receive care at in-network rates at Memorial Hermann even if they leave our networks. To find out if they are eligible, members can call the number on their member ID card for more information.
