Hospital-Based Physicians

When you're admitted to a hospital, you may get care from an anesthesiologist, radiologist, pathologist, ER physician or neonatologist. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas makes every effort to contract with hospital-based physicians that normally offer care at your in-network health care centers.

The information below may help you find which facilities have in-network hospital-based physicians. Using in-network care could help you save on out-of-pocket costs. You'll have more out-of-pocket costs if you use anesthesiologists, pathologists, radiologists and/or emergency medicine physicians not in your network.

Review Covered Providers

Look for your plan and select your area's hospital directory. There, you can review if the hospital you choose has in-network anesthesiologists, pathologists, radiologists and emergency medicine physicians.

Network provider agreements do not guarantee a network physician will be available at the time of each patient's service. Emergency medicine physician agreements generally apply to the attending physician only and do not always apply to the specialty care physician/professional provider consultations provided during emergency room visits. In addition, physician network participation is subject to change.
