BCBSTX Extends Contracts with Hendrick Health
Nov. 25, 2025
(Applies to all groups, Individual & Family Markets)
We’re in active negotiations with Hendrick Health System. The current contracts were set to expire on Dec. 1, 2025, but we’ve extended them to Dec. 13, 2025. Our goal is to reach agreements that protect our members’ and customers’ access to quality care at affordable rates.
If we don’t reach an agreement, Hendrick Health System hospitals, doctors and health care professionals will no longer be in these provider networks as of Dec. 13, 2025:
- Blue Choice PPOSM
- Blue EssentialsSM
- Blue Advantage HMOSM
Hendrick doctors and health care professionals will leave ParPlan on Dec. 1, 2025, and the hospital will leave ParPlan on Dec. 22, 2025, if we don’t reach an agreement.
Hendrick hospitals include Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick South in Abilene. Hendrick Brownwood is not part of this negotiation.
Member notices: We will notify our members at least 30 days prior to the potential term date.
Why negotiate: As a customer-owned health insurance industry leader in Texas for 95 years, we advocate on our members’ behalf for high-quality, cost-effective health care. It is a responsibility we take seriously.
Finding in-network care: If we don’t reach an agreement, members will still have access to in-network doctors and hospitals. We’re here to help members find quality, cost-effective in-network care. Members can check for options by:
- Visiting Find Care on bcbstx.com or their provider directory
- Logging in to their member account online or using the BCBSTX App
- Calling the number on their member ID card
Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are pregnant or being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as a continuity-of-care patient. This means they may still be able to receive care at in-network rates at Hendrick even if they are no longer in our networks. To find out if they are eligible, members can call the number on their member ID card for more information.
