What Members Received Regarding 2026 Medicare Advantage Plan Changes

Nov. 25, 2025

(Applies to Medicare Advantage)

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is ending some Medicare Advantage plans on Jan. 1, 2026. Members in non-renewed plans will move to new plans automatically (“crosswalk”) or need to select new coverage.

Summary of Non-Renewed Plans and 2026 Crosswalks
The table below outlines which 2025 plans are ending and the corresponding new plan (H8634 plans) that impacted members will be mapped or “crosswalked” to, provided that the member lives in an eligible service area under the new plan. Members that are crosswalking do not need to take any action.

Some plans do not have crosswalk option, including the Blue Cross MedicareRx Choice (PDP)SM plan. Members in these plans will be disenrolled on Dec. 31, 2025, and qualify for a special enrollment opportunity to elect a new plan by Feb. 28.

How Members Were Notified About Plan Changes

The communications members received depended on whether they were cross walked or disenrolled.

If the member was “crosswalked” (auto-enrolled in a new H8634 plan), they received:

  • Annual Notice of Change (received in early October).
  • Two termination letters explaining their 2025 plan is ending (received one letter in October and another in November).
  • Materials pertaining to their new plan: Confirmation of Enrollment letter, 2026 Member ID card and a welcome kit (Received between Nov. 7-12)

This scenario applies to members who were in one of the first five plans listed in the table above and live in an eligible service area for the mapped 2026 plan.

If the member was not crosswalked to a new H8634 plan, they received two disenrollment letters explaining their 2025 plan was not renewed. One letter was sent in early October; the other letter was sent in November.

This scenario applies to members in the three plans termed with no member crosswalk option and members in a cross walked plan who do not live in an eligible service area for the mapped H8634 plan.

Contact your regional sales manager if you have questions or need help identifying if your client falls into a service area impacted by a plan termination.
