Some TRS-ActiveCare plans have tiering features designed to provide more transparency and encourage informed health care choices.
What's tiering? Providers and facilities are grouped into tiers based on quality, cost and best practice clinical guidelines. Tier 1 providers and facilities offer top performance and best value. You pay less when you choose Tier 1 and may pay more when you choose Tier 2.
You can still see a provider or go to a facility of your choice. Tiering simply gives you more information that may help you understand how your choice could affect your health care costs.
You have a new tiering feature that lowers your out-of-pocket costs when you choose cost-effective, quality providers, like a Primary Care Provider or specialist, for your care.
