How to Receive Your Prior Authorization Exemption Communication

09/07/2022

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) will be implementing Prior Authorization (PA) Exemptions as required by TDI regulation. As indicated in Texas House Bill 3459, providers have the opportunity to request the method to receive their PA exemption status.

Access to PA Exemption Status

Since many providers are Availity® users, we will be making all PA exemption status notifications available in the secure Payor Spaces section of the Availity website. If you are not currently registered for Availity, you can do so at no charge on Availity® Essentials or by contacting Availity Client Services at 1-800-282-4548 to get access. This will be the easiest and quickest method to access your PA exemptions. More information on accessing the PA exemption via Availity will be available soon.

In order to complete addressing to an alternate method (email or postal mail) for your PA exemption status communication, you must submit the alternate preference using the Prior Authorization Exemption Communication Method Preference Questionnaire by 09/14/2022.

If we do not receive an alternate preference by 09/14/2022, your PA exemption will be available via Availity by 10/1/2022.
