Vision providers take care of your child's eyes. You do not need an OK from your child's primary care physician (PCP) for vision care. Services include:
- An eye exam every 12 months
- One pair of nonprosthetic eyewear every 12 months
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) also offers an enhanced benefit for eyewear for children as a Value-Added Service. Please see Enhanced Eyewear for Kids.
How Do I Get Eye Care Services?
Enhanced Eyewear For Kids
We offer stylish frames to our CHIP kids. Children 18 and under can get new frames worth up to $200.00 each year. Your child must get an eye exam from a Davis eye doctor to receive this benefit. An okay is not needed from your child's PCP.
For more information on our enhanced eyewear for kids, call the Customer Advocate Department at 1-888-657-6061. Members with hearing or speech loss may call the TTY line at 711.
The above vision services are not covered for CHIP Perinate members.
