Negotiation with Unified Women's Healthcare of Texas

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is negotiating new contracts with Unified Women's Healthcare of Texas. If we don’t reach an agreement by Aug. 1, 2026, UWH of Texas won’t be in network for many BCBSTX health plans, including TRS-ActiveCare.

Participants are our priority. BCBSTX is negotiating in good faith. We’re committed to reaching an agreement that will continue to give participants access to UWH of Texas at a fair price.

Even if UWH of Texas leaves our networks, participants will continue to have access to our network of doctors, health care professionals, hospitals and facilities. They can check for options based on their plan by logging in to their member account online or through the BCBSTX App. They can also call a Personal Health Guide at 1-866-355-5999, seven days a week.

Why It Matters

If we don’t sign new contracts, UWH of Texas providers will leave TRS-ActiveCare networks on Aug. 1, 2026.

  • TRS-ActiveCare Primary
  • TRS-ActiveCare Primary+
  • TRS-ActiveCare HD
  • TRS-ActiveCare 2

Why Negotiate

As a customer-owned health insurance industry leader in Texas for 95 years, we advocate on your behalf for high-quality, cost-effective health care. Our goal is to protect your access to quality care at affordable rates. It's a responsibility we take seriously.

Next Steps

If BCBSTX can’t reach an agreement, or if participants want to find another in-network doctor, they can:

  • Visit Provider Finder to find an in-network doctor or hospital near them.
  • Log in to or sign up for their member account online or use the BCBSTX App.
  • Call a Personal Health Guide at 1-866-355-5999.

In the case of a life-threatening illness or injury, participants should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency facility right away. Emergency services are always covered at the in-network benefit level.
