Special Beginnings® Maternity Program

This confidential maternity program helps expectant mothers better understand and manage their pregnancy. With Special Beginnings, you’ll get the support you need from early pregnancy until 6 weeks after delivery, as well as:

  • Pregnancy risk factor identification and ongoing communication and monitoring
  • Education materials, including a comprehensive book, about pregnancy and infant care topics
  • Personal telephone contact with program staff
  • Help managing high-risk conditions such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia
  • Access to an online resource with maternity tools, articles and information available through your Blue Access for MembersSM account.

Getting started is easy

  • Register by phone - Call toll-free 1-888-421-7781, 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., CT, to sign up for the program.
  • Complete a questionnaire – After you sign up, you’ll need to answer a few questions about your health, lifestyle and pregnancy. You can do this online through your Blue Access for Members account, or ask that a nurse call you. Your answers will be kept private and will help us determine any health risks that might affect you or your baby.
