We routinely review our benefits to ensure they provide high-quality coverage at a competitive cost. After a thorough evaluation, we selected BCBSTX, which we believe is better aligned with our team members’ needs, offers improved service, and delivers greater value.

BCBSTX will be our new medical carrier effective Oct. 1, 2026. Until then, your current benefits under Meritain will remain in place.

Open enrollment will be held Aug. 3 through Aug. 21.

As part of the move to BCBSTX medical coverage, you’ll transition from Quantum Health to a new support team, BCBSTX Health Advocacy Solutions (HAS). Beginning July 6, you may reach out to a BCBSTX Health Advocate by calling the Cook Children’s member services phone number 1-877-208-5306.

Here’s what to expect:
• Starting July 6: You can reach out to Health Advocacy Solutions with questions about the new BCBSTX plan.
• Through Sept. 30: Continue working with Quantum Health for your current Meritain plan.
• Beginning Oct. 1: Health Advocacy Solutions becomes your primary support team.

For claims from your current Meritain plan (dated Sept. 30 or earlier), contact Meritain Health, which processes those claims. Quantum Health’s support ends on Sept. 30, so after that date, Meritain will be your main contact for any questions about prior claims. You can reach Meritain at 1-877-404-9750.

The overall coverage design will remain the same, but there may be some changes or enhancements to provider network, cost share, or prior authorization requirements.

BCBSTX has an extensive provider network, but it’s important to verify that your providers are in-network. Search now to find care providers in the BCBSTX network of skilled physicians, therapists, urgent care centers, hospitals, and more.

Yes. New ID cards will be mailed to your home address before Oct. 1, 2026. Make sure your address is up to date in Workday.

No. Our pharmacy carrier, Capital Rx (Judi Rx), will be staying the same. You can continue to contact Capital Rx at 1-866-957-7862 with any pharmacy questions.

FSA and HSA will be with HealthEquity and will remain separate from the health insurance carrier.

If you enroll in the HRA plan, your HRA and any applicable rollover funds will transition from Meritain to BCBSTX. Rollover funds from your Meritain HRA will be transferred to BCBSTX the first week of Dec. and you will be able to check your HRA balance in Blue Access for Members (BAM) member portal by mid-December.
