Notice of Changes to Your Benefits Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Your health is always our priority. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) health plan gives you access to the care you need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • COVID-19 testing and treatment
  • Doctor’s visits using telehealth
  • Mental health support

Some COVID-19 benefits will change after May 11, 2023, with the end of the public health emergency. 

If you have questions about your benefit coverage, call the customer service number listed on your BCBSTX member ID card.

COVID-19 testing-related visits covered at no cost-share to the member at in-network provider offices, urgent care clinics, emergency rooms or by telehealth

March 18, 2020

Ends on May 11, 2023, with the end of the HHS public health emergency.

Over-the-counter COVID-19 diagnostic tests covered at no cost-share to the member, up to 8 tests every 30 days per person

Jan. 15, 2022

Ends on May 11, 2023, with the end of the HHS public health emergency.

In-network COVID-19 treatment at no cost-share at in-network providers

April 1, 2020

Ended Dec. 31, 2020.

Telehealth visits at no cost-share at in-network providers

March 16, 2020

Early fills (up to 90 days) of some covered medication at select drugstores or by mail order

March 8, 2020

Medicare members - Ends on May 11, 2023, with the end of the HHS public health emergency.

 

Benefit coverage for self-funded groups may differ from the dates listed above. If you are in a group plan and are unsure what your plan covers, contact your company's benefits administrator.

Remember to use your BCBSTX member ID card for your doctor's visit and testing to help with the reimbursement process.
