Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Awarded NCQA Long-Term Services and Supports Distinction

BCBSTX recognized for its continuous commitment to high-quality, person-centered care

RICHARDSON, TexasBlue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has been recognized with a Long-Term Services and Supports Distinction from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The NCQA is a private nonprofit dedicated to improving health care quality.

NCQA’s LTSS Distinction is awarded to health plans that demonstrate high quality, effective health care and social services standards that align with state requirements for vulnerable individuals needing LTSS services such as older people and people with disabilities. Additionally, health plans must have core functions in place such as person-centered care planning, effective care transitions and critical-incident management systems with built-in health equity principles and patient protections.

“This recognition by NCQA for our commitment to advancing health care quality through integrated care underscores our focus on optimal health outcomes for our members across the state,” said Dee Cavaness, Medicaid vice president for BCBSTX. “It showcases our dedication to provide holistic and coordinated care to our members receiving long-term services and support.”

BCBSTX currently serves more than 55,000 Texas Medicaid members statewide and has participated in Texas’ Medicaid program since 2012.
