Quick Facts About Medicare Part A and Part B Eligibility

Understanding Medicare eligibility is important as you approach your retirement age or if you qualify due to a disability. Generally, individuals 65 and older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B.

Medicare Advantage and Part D Eligibility

  • Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare.
  • Eligibility for Medicare Advantage typically requires enrollment in both Part A and Part B
  • Medicare Part D offers prescription drug coverage; you must be enrolled in Part A, Part B or both to be eligible for Part D.
  • You must also reside in the private insurer’s service areas to be eligible for Medicare Advantage and Part D plans.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Eligibility

You are eligible for Medical Supplement Insurance if you are If you’re at least 65 years old, enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, and a resident of Texas.

If you are under 65 and disabled, you are eligible to apply once you have been informed of you are eligible for Medicare by disability.
