Negotiation with Memorial Hermann

Through determined efforts on both sides, we’ve reached an agreement with Memorial Hermann. We’re pleased to let you know that the hospitals and the doctors and health care professionals who work for Memorial Hermann are rejoining our networks.

You're our priority. We weren't willing to compromise your best interests. So, the agreements with Memorial Hermann are fair and reasonable. They give you access to Memorial Hermann doctors and hospitals while paying fair prices to Memorial Hermann.  

Why it Matters

The new agreements will be retroactive to March 1, 2022.

That means any claims processed as out of network on or after March 1, 2022 will be reprocessed at the in-network benefit level.

Your Next Steps

If you're enrolled in the TRS-ActiveCare Primary or TRS-ActiveCare Primary+ plan, you may have been assigned a new primary care provider (PCP) during negotiations.

What now? Go to Blue Access for MembersSM  to see if you were assigned a new PCP. If so, you may either choose to stay with the doctor selected, or you may return to your Memorial Hermann PCP. If you already have an approved referral to see an in-network Memorial Hermann specialist, you don't need a new one.

Follow these directions:

  • Register for or log in Blue Access for Members
  • Go to the Doctors & Hospitals Tab
  • Select Change Primary Care Physicians
  • Review the doctor listed as your PCP
  • Choose a different PCP, if you prefer
  • You can search in-network doctors on Provider Finder®

You can call a Personal Health Guide (PHG), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 1-866-355-5999 for help with:

  • Finding or making appointments with in-network providers
  • Out-of-network bills you received for appointments or services after March 1, 2022
  • Appointments or procedures you had to cancel with a Memorial Hermann provider after March 1, 2022
  • Transition of care questions
  • Ongoing treatments or prior authorizations on file
  • Any other questions or concerns you have
