Enroll in Medicare as a Provider

February 1, 2016

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published rules that will soon require nearly all providers who prescribe drugs for Part D patients to enroll in Medicare, or validly opt out, if appropriate. Beginning June 1, 2016, Medicare Part D may no longer cover drugs that are prescribed by physicians or other eligible professionals who are neither validly enrolled, nor opted out of Medicare.

CMS strongly recommends registering as soon as possible to allow for the processing of applications and to ensure Medicare enrollees are able to access their prescriptions without interruption of therapy.

Please review the CMS registration instructions and register with CMS, if appropriate, as soon as possible by clicking on the registration instructions. pdf document
