Addressing What Matters
A Message from Our CMO
At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, our priority is your health and well-being. For more than 80 years, we've worked to make the health care system work better through community based programs, advocating for sound public policies and working with doctors and other health care providers.
Each year new opportunities and challenges arise. Health care keeps changing with the introduction of cutting edge treatments that may improve and even save many lives. It also raises new questions as we strive to keep coverage affordable.
We're working to find answers to public crises like the opioid abuse epidemic. The entire industry must work together to solve the challenges in health care, and we're dedicated to playing a major role on your behalf.

Addressing the Opioid Public Health Emergency in Texas
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , on average, 115 people in the U.S. die each day from an opioid overdose. Many of these deaths involve prescription opioids, and more than 1,000 people are treated in emergency rooms daily for misusing these drugs.
