Basic Coverage for 1-11 Months

Short-term health insurance (also called temporary health insurance) can give you peace of mind while you look for a new job. It’s a low-cost option that can start within 24 hours after buying.

If you’re in between jobs or your new coverage doesn’t start until 2014, short-term health insurance is an affordable way to stay covered until you enroll in a longer-term plan. Even if you and your family are active and have few health issues, temporary insurance shields you from paying the full cost of treating an unexpected injury or illness.

Short-Term Health Insurance Eligibility

  • Texas residents ages 60 days to 65 years old
  • Non-expectant parents
  • Unmarried children ages 60 days old and under 25 years old
  • U.S. citizens or non-U.S. citizens living in the United States for at least two years (a copy of your Alien Registration Receipt Card must be sent in when you apply)
