Effective September 1, 2009 for Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery
All bariatric procedures, such as lap band and gastric bypass, performed September 1, 2009 or after must be performed at one of the Blue Distinction Centers for Bariatric Surgery or the expenses will not be covered by TRS-ActiveCare.
Coverage restrictions apply to all bariatric surgery procedures performed on or after September 1, 2009, including those with predeterminations and preauthorizations issued for bariatric surgery prior to September 1, 2009.
