Low-tech Imaging Providers: New Assessment Process
In our May Blue Review , we announced an enhancement to our Radiology Quality Initiative (RQI) program, which American Imaging Management®’ (AIM®’) administers for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX). We also included an article in our June newsletter. This enhancement utilizes AIM’s OptiNet®’ tool to assess modality-specific data for imaging facilities.
Beginning June 27, 2011, we will begin collecting capability information from BlueChoice providers that perform the technical component of low-tech imaging services (X-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography and mammography). Areas of assessment include staff qualifications and facility accreditation.
The assessment completion deadline for low-tech imaging providers is Sept 1, 2011. After you complete the assessment, a score will be assigned to your facility for the following modalities, if registered: X-ray, ultrasound and echocardiography. Low-tech imaging modality score(s) will not be made available for viewing by ordering physicians. A modality score will not be generated for mammography.
