High-Tech Imaging Service Providers: New Assessment Process

April 13, 2011

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is pleased to announce an important enhancement to our Radiology Quality Initiative (RQI) program, administered by American Imaging Management®’(AIM®’). BCBSTX is launching an online assessment process for high-tech diagnostic imaging providers to help facilitate the provision of accurate and consistent information, when needed, to help promote patient safety, accessibility of care and cost effectiveness.

Beginning April 18, 2011, high-tech imaging service providers are asked to complete AIM’s online OptiNet®’ assessment, which will gather modality-specific information in the following areas: staff qualifications, equipment accreditation, equipment specifications, and policy and procedures. Your assessment data will be analyzed to determine a site score for each modality you register. The information on OptiNet is based on information given by providers, Providers can update their information whenever necessary.

You should complete the OptiNet assessment if you bill BCBSTX for the technical component of the following advanced diagnostic imaging services:

  • Computed Tomography (CT/CTA)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI/MRA)
  • Nuclear Cardiology
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
