Physicians and practitioners applying for consideration for participation in a BCBSTX network are required to complete the required credentialing process prior to participation.
To participate in the BCBSTX networks, physicians/practitioners must have a Texas or other state license, as applicable. that is current at the time of Texas Medical Director/Texas Medical Advisory Committee review and be in good standing with the licensing board, the Provider Network, its hospital affiliates and with BCBSTX, plus meet other credentialing criteria established by the plan.
The standard procedure in processing a complete application includes, but is not limited to, verification of information regarding board certification, education and training, hospital privileges, licensure and malpractice history. All documentation and signatures must meet requirements and time frames required by applicable regulatory and certification/accreditation agencies. Once the credentialing process is completed and a decision is made on network participation, the physician/practitioner is notified via letter. It is important that you provide us with your correct fax number and e-mail address within the application as BCBSTX has various initiatives underway that will facilitate electronic delivery of key information to you and your practice in the near future.
