3-Part EFT ERA EPS – Beyond the Basics Article Series

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is presenting a three-part "EFT, ERA and EPS: Beyond the Basics" article series.

Introduction: In June 2010, we shared feedback from an online tutorial and survey regarding Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Electronic Payment Summary (EPS). Participants were asked if they had any questions that had not yet been addressed in other provider communications that may have prevented them from enrolling.

The first Beyond the Basics article, published in July 2010, shared feedback from physicians and other professional providers who expressed interest, but needed more information prior to enrolling for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Electronic Payment Summary (EPS).

The second Beyond the Basics article, published in August, focused primarily on a discussion of post-enrollment questions, such as how physicians and other professional providers enrolled for EFT and ERA/EPS might expect to receive their payment and remittance information, as well as how EFT, ERA and EPS can work better when utilized together.

The third Beyond the Basics article is forthcoming and will examine technical questions and concerns, such as additional software that may be needed, what questions to ask third party vendors, and where to turn for additional technical support.
