The BlueChoice® managed care program provides clients with health care coverage through a preferred provider organization (PPO). A PPO is a network of providers who have contracted with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas to provide health care services at negotiated rates. Members can access a full range of health care services within the BlueChoice provider network or use ParPlan and other out-of-network providers at a reduced benefit level.
Under the BlueChoice PPO, members must use network providers to receive the highest (network) level of benefits. Benefit levels vary depending on whether care is received in the network, out-of-network or out-of-area. For care outside of Texas, visit our BlueCard PPO Section to learn more about that program.
For more information on BlueChoice PPO, including the limitations and exclusions that apply, or any of the other Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas products or services, please Contact Us for the phone number of the regional sales office near you.
BlueChoice PPO The BlueChoice PPO, one of the largest in Texas, is comprised of more than 640 hospitals and almost 49,000 providers across Texas (Source: Internal PREMIER Report, November 2007). Contracting providers agree to file claims, arrange necessary preauthorizations, and hold members harmless for charges deemed not medically necessary by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
