ParPlan is a contractual arrangement with physicians and other health care professionals who agree to:
- file members' claims
- accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' allowable amount for covered services
- cooperate with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' utilization review
So, even if members do not go to a BlueChoice® network provider, they can save money through ParPlan.
When members visit a ParPlan provider, they:
- pay a deductible and co-insurance, when applicable
- may have to precertify their own care when required
- avoid paperwork because claims are generally file for them
Contracting Facilities
In addition to saving money with ParPlan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has also contracted with hospitals and ancillary providers. Contracting facilities agree to accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' negotiated rates for covered services, and will not balance bill members for charges exceeding the amount.
Currently, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas' ParPlan providers and contracting facilities include 81 percent of all Texas physicians and 88 percent of all Texas hospitals (Source: Internal PREMIER Reports, February 2008).
