As a member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Preferred Provider Health Insurance Plan (PPO), you'll be able to choose doctors and hospitals from one of the largest networks of contracting providers in the country. When you choose a PPO, you can receive care from any licensed doctor you want. If you use a network doctor:

• You'll pay less out of pocket
  
• You usually won't have to file any claims
  
• You'll get the higher level of benefits

Use a doctor outside of the network and you'll still be covered, but your out-of-pocket costs will be higher.

BlueChoice Network
The BlueChoice network, one of the largest in Texas, is comprised of more than 640 hospitals and almost 49,000 physicians across Texas (Source: Internal PREMIER Report, November 2007). Contracting providers agree to file claims, arrange necessary preauthorizations, and hold members harmless for charges deemed not medically necessary by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
