Nique Allen

Community Relations Specialist

Area: Greater Austin metropolitan

Nique Allen comes to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Consumer Markets division from a health care marketing and communications background. After getting a business degree at Abilene Christian University, Nique quickly discovered her passion for health care. She has enjoyed learning how to combine her knowledge in business and health care with helping others and she is excited to play a part in the upcoming Exchange. In addition to her experience, Nique also brings a love for seniors and looks forward to helping the senior population with their Medicare choices.

Nique was able to spend a year living in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany while working at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort (an Armed Forces Recreation Center). While abroad, she went skiing on a regular basis (which she misses in Austin), travel to multiple countries and try a wide variety of delicious foods. Although she loved each place she visited, Croatia will always hold a special place in her heart and she hopes to return one day. She enjoys traveling, two-stepping and spending time with friends and family.

Marlene Garza

Community Relations Specialist

Area: Greater Dallas metropolitan

Marlene has an associate degree as a legal secretary and been with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) for over 20 years. She has worked in the Consumer Markets division for 15 years and is currently establishing her relationships with the senior community in Texas. Her knowledge of the products along with her bilingual skills are very helpful in educating and assisting people about the Medicare program and insurance in general. Marlene is an active member of her church community and participates in the Latinos for Advancement program of BCBSTX.

Marlene was born and raised in Texas. Her love for all genres of music, specifically Latin music, has inspired her to follow such artists as Vicente Fernandez, Marco Antonio Solis and Luis Miguel. Her all-time favorite artist is the internationally-flavored pop music artist Alejandro Fernandez. Taking part in as many competitions as she can, she hopes to one day win a night out with him.

Belinda Matchett

Community Relations Specialist

Area: Greater Houston metropolitan

Belinda has been in the Managed Care industry for over 10 years. Most recently, she led a successful team of provider educators and contractors in the recent Texas expansion for long-term care products. She created educational material for the expansion, including provider manuals and presentations. Belinda enjoys leading others and helping them develop into valuable resources.

Belinda is a volunteer director of missions for her church in Spring, Texas. She leads local and non-local mission projects. She is preparing for a trip to Haiti where she will work with two orphanages her church is sponsoring.

Belinda has been married for 23 years and has two wonderful children: a 22-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. She lives a simple yet busy life with her family and the community she serves. Belinda aspires to one day retire with the ability to work in her community as a volunteer for seniors, the disabled and the less fortunate.

Karen Travit

Community Relations Specialist

Area: Greater Dallas metropolitan

Karen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York. Upon completing her degree, this native New Yorker taught elementary and high school students for a number of years before entering the corporate world.

Karen came to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) after being in the health care industry for 3 years. Prior to this, Karen gained success in the telecommunication industry as a project manager for 5 years. She also had a successful career as a sales and account manager for 4 years in the financial industry.

She is active in a variety of civic and cultural organizations including Girl Scouts of the USA and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Karen has a love for coordinating and crafting. She has created event favors for all types of events. Outside of her professional interests, she travels, reads and enjoys living in Texas.
