Blue Medicare Advantage (PPO)SM
Life is all about the choices you make. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is adding to your Medicare choices with 2013 Blue Medicare AdvantageSM.
Blue Medicare Advantage is our "all-in-one" plan,
providing your Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and
Part B (Medical Insurance) benefits as well as prescription
drug coverage (Part D). Blue Medicare Advantage also
offers extra benefits such as 24/7 Nurseline.
How is Blue Medicare Advantage different
from Medicare Supplement* insurance?
Medicare Supplement insurance is designed to pay
some of the health care costs that Original Medicare
doesn’t cover: copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
Blue Medicare Advantage provides all of the services
that Original Medicare covers, plus includes prescription
drug coverage (Part D) and additional benefits.
Blue Medicare Advantage premiums apply to
residents of Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Collin,
Dallas, Denton, Fayette, Fort Bend, Harris, Hays, Lee,
Montgomery, Tarrant, Travis and Williamson counties
in Texas only.
How do you decide which is right for you?
The plan you have now may still be
the right choice. However, this might
be the right time to do a quick coverage
check and consider some basic essentials:
- Your doctor: Blue Medicare
Advantage uses a network of
providers so you need to be sure
your doctor is in the network or
choose one who is.
Visit www.mybluemapd.com/providers/tx or call to review the
doctors on the plan.
- Your prescriptions: Do you
have prescription medications?
Even if you don’t, you still need
to consider having prescription
drug coverage to protect yourself
against unexpected costs. Both
Blue Medicare Advantage and
Medicare Part D cover prescription
drugs. Make sure yours are on our
formulary. Visit www.myprime.com to check.
- Your budget: Costs can vary.
Look at your budget, keeping in
mind these typical plan expenses:
- Premiums for Medicare Part B
with every plan you choose
- Copays and coinsurance
for doctor visits, tests and
prescription drugs
- Deductibles are part of some
plans
When can I enroll in Blue
Medicare Advantage?
The Annual Enrollment Period is
October 15 – December 7. During
this time anyone can enroll, switch or
drop a Medicare Advantage plan. Your
coverage will begin on January 1. If you
enroll in a Blue Medicare Advantage
plan you will need to continue paying
your Medicare Part B premium as well
as any premium charged by the plan.
