Letters to Retirees About HealthSelect and Humana Medicare Advantage Plan
Recently, you should have received a letter from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) about your HealthSelectSM of Texas benefits and a separate letter from the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) about the new Humana Medicare Advantage Plan that starts January 1, 2012. This article explains the difference between the two letters.
The BCBSTX letter has information about your benefits for the current plan year, which began September 1, 2011. These are your benefits if you remain in HealthSelect for the rest of this plan year.
The letter from ERS explains that if you are enrolled in Medicare, you will automatically be enrolled in the Humana Medicare Advantage Plan on January 1, 2012. You can choose to remain in HealthSelect by logging into your ERS account during your Coverage Review Period, November 7 – December 9, 2011 and selecting HealthSelect.
