Since 1947, benefits provided by the State and administered by ERS have been an important part of the compensation of State employees. In addition to retirement benefits, ERS also administers the Group Benefits Program (GBP) which includes health, dental, life and disability, TexFlex and Texas$aver programs.
BCBSTX has been servicing participants of the GBP for 27 years and continues to partner with ERS to provide participants with tools and resources needed to live happier, healthier lives.
ID CARDS
If an employee continues in HealthSelect the card they currently carry is still valid for the new plan year. Employees will receive new ID cards shortly after September 1 only if they:
- are new to HealthSelect;
- add or drop dependents;
- make name changes; or
- make PCP changes.
New participants, who need to utilize their medical plan benefits prior to receiving an ID card, will need to provide the Group number (038000) and the Social Security Number (SSN) of the subscriber to their provider. The provider may use this information when verifying coverage.

The HealthSelect Web site offers participants a variety of tools to assist them in locating a provider based on access, affordability, and performance information. Participants can access tools such as:
Blue Access for Members
Registered users of Blue Access for Members have access to:

Check the status of their claim and claims history

Confirm who in their family is included in their coverage

View and print an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for a claim

Select the option to receive e-mail notification of EOBs, rather than mail

Request a new or replacement ID card or print temporary ID card

Use the Hospital Comparison Tool or Treatment Cost Advisor

Review their out-of-pocket summary details

E-mail or chat with BCBSTX Customer Service

Access the Personal Health Manager

Blue Care® Connection, which is included as part of your HealthSelect coverage, gives participants the opportunity to receive rewards for healthy activity through Blue Points.
Each time a participant tracks a fitness workout, reports a meal, asks a nurse a health-related question, or uses other parts of the For Your Health section of the Personal health Manager, they can earn Blue Points.
These points are redeemable for health improvement and other products at the Blue Points Redemption Center, which participants may access through the Personal Health Manager.
