Plan Ahead to Decrease Your Chances of Allergic Reactions

If you have allergies, you may want to plan ahead before traveling since the climate where you are going may differ from where you live. Some areas with more trees, grass or weeds have a greater amount of pollen in the air. Local factors such as wind, humidity and temperatures also play a role in allergies.  

People's sensitivities differ too. One person may be allergic to tree pollen, while someone else may be allergic to grass pollen. Your allergies react to your surroundings. Use these tips while on the road:

• Travel in the early morning or late evening when the air quality is better.
• Keep windows of your car or at your hotel closed and use the air conditioner if needed.
• Do something inside on windy days when dust and pollen are more likely to be in the air.
• Take a shower after spending time outside to wash away pollen that may collect on your skin and hair.
