The new health care law is changing the way some Americans get health insurance. The changes include new options that can make it easier to shop for coverage, especially for individuals and families who could not afford or get coverage before.
Below are the options available to you for getting coverage.
You can enroll in a plan directly with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) through our online shopping cart, or by calling us at 888-731-0406. You'll be able to view all BCBSTX health plans available to you, including the plans that will be offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
The Marketplace is run by the government, but it offers insurance plans from private companies. Starting in October, you can enroll in a plan on the Marketplace for coverage that begins on January 1, 2014. If you qualify for a credit or other help paying for your coverage, you can use that credit on the Marketplace.
You can also choose to work with an insurance agent if you'd like. They can help you find the plan that's best for you.
