Employers may now offer more than one health coverage option to employees through a Multiple Option Product (MOP) or Dual Option Preferred Provider Health Insurance Plan (PPO).
Multiple Option Product (MOP)
This program allows employers to offer two health coverage options at enrollment: A Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) health plan provided by HMO Blue Texas, and a BestChoice Preferred Provider Health Insurance (PPO). The advantages of the Multiple Option Product include:
- A choice of health care plans for members: HMO Blue Texas or a BestChoice PPO plan.
- Health care coverage options that may lower the overall member cost for benefit expenses.
- Urgent Care and Guest Membership privileges for HMO members.
- BlueCard Program which provides access to PPO provider discounts nationwide for BestChoice participants.
Dual Option PPO
This program allows employers to offer different coverage options at enrollment: A PPO plan with richer benefits, combined with a PPO plan with a lower level of benefits, provides members with a choice, while maintaining the large PPO network and out-of-network benefit feature with a PPO. The advantages of the Dual Option PPO include:
- A choice of health care plans for members: A BestChoice PPO plan with a higher level of benefits or PPO plan with lower level of benefits.
- Health care coverage options that may lower the overall member cost for benefit expenses.
- Large PPO network available with either PPO plan selected.
- BlueCard Program which provides access to PPO provider discounts nationwide for BestChoice participants.
Ask your local Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas sales office or agent for details on enhancing your product portfolio by choosing an HMO/PPO combination (referred to as MOP) or a combination of two PPO plans (referred to as Dual Option Preferred Provider Health Insurance Plan (PPO)).
