Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas prescription drug lists consist of (1) a preferred drug guide, (2) a generics plus drug guide, (3) most commonly prescribed list of preferred drugs, and (4) drugs with dispensing limits – specific quantity limits are specified.

In most cases, generic drugs – whether included on this list or not – are available at the lowest copayment. Brand name drugs are available at the middle copayment. Non-preferred brand name drugs require the highest copayment.
