Richardson, TX — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) today announced its new chief medical officer. Dr. Dan McCoy, who has previously served as the interim chief medical officer and senior medical director at BCBSTX, has taken on the position of vice president and chief medical officer.

"In his new role with BCBSTX, Dr. McCoy will play a key part in helping us fulfill our mission of improving the health and well-being of our members and communities across the state," said Bert Marshall, president, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. "He will be integral to our statewide effort to expand access to health care in Texas and educate uninsured consumers about their coverage choices."

"My new role with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will allow me to continue my lifetime focus on working to improve access and affordability to health care coverage that can help lead to positive health outcomes," said Dr. McCoy.

Before joining BCBSTX, Dr. McCoy was the principal owner of a communications consulting firm where he developed solutions to the challenges of the changing health care industry.
