New President Named at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas
Richardson, TX — Bert Marshall has been named the new president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, it was announced today. Marshall will oversee all aspects of the company's operations, including sales, marketing, healthcare management, network operations, government and community relations. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is a division of Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), the country's largest customer-owned health insurer.
Most recently, Marshall served as president of HCSC's Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma plan, and has been with the company since 1996. The company has commenced a search to replace Marshall in Oklahoma.
Marshall replaces Darren Rodgers, who will become senior vice president and chief marketing officer for HCSC, based in Chicago. Rodgers will lead the marketing strategy to attract and retain membership across all customer segments of HCSC's four Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. Rodgers joined the company in 1992 and was named Texas plan president in 2008.
"As a business and civic leader, Bert Marshall has made an incredible difference for our members in Oklahoma. As he moves to Texas, he will continue the strong work led by Darren Rodgers to position our company as a leader in customer service and in providing access to affordable, quality health care. We are better able to serve our members by having such talented, long-tenured leaders who can take on new responsibilities as our company grows and the marketplace changes," said Pat Hemingway Hall, president and CEO of HCSC.
