Celebration Marks Official Grand Opening of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Amarillo Service Center

Dallas, TX — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) has announced plans to officially open its new Amarillo Customer Service Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 31, 2008. The private ceremony and building tours are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 3p.m. at the site of the new facility, 7901 Wallace Blvd., in Point West Business Park, Amarillo, Texas.

"We have looked forward to the completion of this new full-service facility for several years," says Martin G. Foster, president, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and executive vice president of Plan Operations, HCSC. "From the beginning, the project has been a team effort with our partners at the City of Amarillo and the Amarillo business community. The project’s completion marks an important milestone in building the company’s capacity to continue growing and delivering high levels of service to additional members."

Construction of the new customer service center began in August, 2006. The $17 million , 89,000 square feet facility is the seventh such Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas service center in the state and is designed to accommodate approximately 500 employees as it is staffed to capacity over the next few years.
