Underwriting

Underwriters are part of a professional team that develops benefit plan proposals to meet the needs of both HCSC and our members. As an HCSC underwriter, you will use your strong analytical skills to prepare proposals and quotes for our customers on their group health benefit plans, including HMO, PPO, indemnity, dental and prescription drug benefits. You will partner with brokers, account representatives, actuaries and other finance professionals to understand client requirements and demographics in order to prepare quotes for new and renewal business. You may help to negotiate rates and fees designed to achieve HCSC’s financial goals, grow our market share and satisfy the customer.

Depending on your block of business, you may develop financial packages for groups ranging from small two-person organizations, to local government agencies, to Fortune 100 companies. Relying upon a variety of risk analysis and research tools, you will apply your technical and financial knowledge to underwrite your cases.
