Do you have diabetes? What kind of tests do you need to get?
Have an annual diabetic eye exam.
Diabetics have a greater risk of developing eye problems. Early screening and treatment for these eye problems may reduce risk for vision loss. Diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma are among the problems diabetics may have. These eye problems can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. A person with diabetes is at higher risk of blindness than someone without diabetes.
What can you do?
Have testing for eye problems. You should have a regular diabetic eye exam. Check with your doctor to find out how often. If you notice any changes in your eye sight, contact you doctor immediately. Do not wait. Early treatment may reduce how serious the problem becomes. If you already have any eye problems, have regular check-ups and follow the treatment instructions from your eye specialist.
