DARRELL BECKETT JOINS BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF TEXAS AS VICE PRESIDENT OF LOCAL, GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL MARKETING/SALES

July 25, 2005, Richardson, Texas – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) has announced that Darrell D. Beckett has joined the company as Texas division vice president, Local Group and Individual Marketing/Sales. In this capacity, Beckett is responsible for strategic planning and overseeing account sales, service and retention.  He will be based at the Richardson headquarters with business segments including individual, small and mid-sized group markets reporting directly to him.

Prior to joining Blue Cross, Beckett held a number of increasingly responsible management positions at MetLife and most recently served as national sales director for a division of MetLife, based in Atlanta.  A graduate of the University of Missouri, Beckett has worked as a professional in the insurance industry since 1985.
