BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF TEXAS EMPLOYEES RAISE FUNDS FOR TWO SAN ANGELO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
July 11, 2005, Richardson,Texas – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) announced today that employees in its San Angelo facility have raised a total of $3,143 which they will contribute to local charities. To date, the contributions have gone to Sonrisas Therapeutic Riding ($2,000) and Meals for the Elderly ($1,000).
Sonrisas provides therapy to persons with physical, emotional and mental challenges through a program of equine activities and Meals for the Elderly serves hot, nutritious, home-delivered meals on weekdays to the homebound and disabled elderly.
The contributions are part of the health insurer’s Employee Charitable Campaign (ECC), which gives BCBSTX employees an opportunity to earmark annual contributions for support of selected local charitable organizations.
“The employees at our San Angelo facility do an excellent job of demonstrating their support of our community,” says Diana Davies, director of BCBSTX’s San Angelo claims and customer service center. “Our goal is to cooperate with local organizations that work tirelessly to meet the needs of individuals and families in three areas that reflect our corporate objectives—health care, education and human services. We are committed to being part of the solution by continuing to donate funds to worthy causes that truly make a difference in our community.”
